5 Things I Pinned This Week – Week 2

Went on a girls’ weekend getaway and forgot to post this earlier…enjoy!   (Read about pins and Pinterest here.)

1.  Kitchen Storage Ideas from BH&G

Okay, a kitchen remodel is nowhere in my future, but if it was, I’d be installing one of these.  In my big kitchen, I have a thing about paper towels and dishtowels never being where I need them.  Access is crucial when it comes to spills and drips.  This, I love.  Obviously, this particular cabinet was designed by a woman who spends time in a kitchen.

2.  Halloween Decor from Poetic Home

What can I say?  I’m in the mood for fall and Halloween.  I’ve been collecting some ideas for not-too-creepy decor ideas, and this was one I loved.  Where can I get a vintage black typewriter?

3.  Fall Treats from HGTV Blog

Maybe it is all the heat we’ve had this summer, or maybe it is because Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday, but I’m pinning lots of autumn goodies.  Like these fabulous leaf cookies.  This pin probably inspired my purchase of not one but seven leaf cookie cutters (and an acorn!) while I was away this weekend.  Go FALL!

4.  Crockpot Orange Chicken from The Pursuit of Happiness

Clearly, an anticipation of cooler days to come has been the focus of my week.  Along with that, a search for new crockpot recipes!  Knowing that Superkid’s absolute favorite food ever is Orange Chicken from Panda Express, I pinned this recipe in a hurry.  Crockpot + Orange Chicken = happy mother and happy kids.  I’m making this.

5.  Paint Chip Pennant Banner from Sugar and Dots

While doing research for an article I’m writing, I fell in love with pennant banners.  I’ve found dozens of things to make them out of (including pain chips!), and I ended up creating yet another board for pennant pins.  (Called “Pennant Bunting”, and you can view all my pennant pins HERE.)  I foresee some fall pennants in my future.

Have a great week, friends!

  1. Ruth,

I was just in Costco this week and they were sampling Panda Express Orange Chicken sauce. They had just poured it over plain old frozen/microwaved chicken nuggets. It was so good we went back for samples at least twice. I wasn’t going to buy it, but for $5 for a huge bottle I went for it. The recipe you posted looks good, but if your daughter likes Panda Express, you may want to just get this sauce and pour it over the chicken and put it in the crock pot. Just a thought!

    • I actually bought some of that sauce last time I was at Panda Express. I tried putting it on regular chicken (not breaded) in the crock pot. Guess what? Totally doesn’t work. Cooking the sauce seems to thin it out too much. So, I’m thinking for it to work in the crock pot, you need to use a sauce that thickens as it cooks. But, I hadn’t thought of using chicken nuggets with the sauce–what a great idea!

      • Glad for the FYI on putting the sauce in the crock pot. I was just going to try that. You just saved me 5 hours of waiting for disappointment. Just I’ll just add it to some stir fry and chicken.

  2. Wow that was strange. I jst wrote an really long comment but after I clicked submit my commment didn’t
appear. Grrrr… well I’m not writing all that over again. Anyhow, just wanted to say superb blog!
