1.  By 10 A.M. this morning, I had baked 2 batches of bread and 1 batch of muffins.  I was totally impressed with myself.  It brought to mind the time when the Bionic Man and I loaded up with flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, and baking powder at Sam’s Club, and the clerk asked if we owned a bakery.  Why yes, yes, I think I do.

2.  Also by 10 A.M. this morning, my kitchen was a Disaster.  Note, that it is “Disaster” with a capital D.  Naturally, that is why I have escaped to my office to do some writing.  Because it is one thing to bake, and yet another thing to clean up after baking.  Where’s my sous chef?!?!?!

3.  Thank you to the kind people who anonymously left treats on our porch the other day.  They were delicious.  But, if you happen to be reading this, please don’t be offended when I confess that I do not thank you for stipulating that we must pass treats along to two other houses, with an accompanying cute note that needs to be color copied.  Um, it is one thing to bake, it is another thing to go to the copy store.  Plus, I’m notoriously very, very bad when it comes to these “You’ve been BOO-ed!” activities.  Much to my children’s consternation, sometimes I forget to pass along the BOO plate.  Seriously, people, in less than eight weeks I’m going to be driving all over town, handing out some kind of handmade goody for Christmas.  I think last year we were up to 36 deliveries.  And in less than three weeks, I’m going to have to buy bags and bags of candy to hand out with a smile to all the Trunk-or-Treaters and Trick-or-Treaters.  So, forgive me if I have a bad attitude about this.  But the chocolate chip cookies were yummy.  Maybe I can put Endeavor in charge of BB-ing, this year?  Forgive me?

4.  The Bionic Man needed a profile picture for something.  This pose is so very Bionic Man.  The children were helping me edit.  Here’s our favorite.  Artistic, eh?

5.  Cross Country season is officially over (Endeavor’s team of girls took 1st place in the County meet) and soccer is winding down (Justone has played so well).  I’m ready for a sports break.  I’m thrilled, however, that our weather has been absolutely beautiful for all of the outdoor sporting events we’ve attended.  I think this has been our best fall, ever.

  1. Oh my gosh! The BOO-ing! Can I just say I’m so glad I’m not the only one who is annoyed by this little tradition? Honestly! The reason I love Halloween so much is because it’s just pure fun, and I never have to worry about my kids not getting the “true” meaning, or being to commercial and not spiritual enough, blah blah blah…. Just bring on the candy and the costumes and the donuts, and I am totally fulfilled! Just a tip: I save my Boo sign every year, and put it up BEFORE the treats arrive just so I don’t feel too guilty.

  2. PS I just realized that I have LOST our boo sign from last year, so I will be printing up your awesome sample here and affixing it to the door RIGHT NOW. Thanks
